Chicken Pox
One of the most common diseases that can affect children and even adults is chicken. Chickenpox is a viral infection and after the infection is gone, the virus that cause chickenpox may stay in the nerve cells of the body and has the tendency to resurface and reanimate later on and cause a much graver version of chickenpox called shingles.
What is Chickenpox?
-
It is an infection caused by a virus known as Varicella Zoster
-
It is characterized by itchy spots or rashes that spread quickly over the whole body
-
It is highly contagious especially during the first 5 days of infection. It is acquired through salivary or physical contact with someone infected with the virus.
How is it handled?
-
The best way to threat chickenpox is using a preventive system. Meaning you should have your children injected with vaccines that prevent them from getting infected with chickenpox and in the case where they do get infected, recovery or the healing time will be much shorter or faster.
-
When your child is infected advise him or her to avoid scratching the chickenpox sores to prevent aggravating it and cut their fingernails just in case they do scratch the itch to avoid cutting the skin.
-
Do not let your children sweat profusely or the itchiness will aggravate. Apply calamine lotion to the infected parts after bathing to help rid of the itchiness.
-
Do not let them take in aspirin or a complication will arise and your children may suffer from a illness called Reye Syndrome.
